A Future Charity Project by Shimmer & Whimsy House

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing is a future public-benefit charity project being developed from the heart of Shimmer & Whimsy House.

The vision is simple, but deeply needed:

To bring back the village.

This project is being created for people who need safety, stability, support, food security, connection, privacy, purpose, and a gentler way to rebuild.

The long-term dream is to create safe, affordable, eco-conscious village communities for people experiencing housing stress, hardship, isolation, trauma-related barriers, disability, family instability, elder loneliness, food insecurity, or other forms of disadvantage.

Not Just Housing

This is not just about building houses.

It is about creating a wider ecosystem of care.

A Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing village would aim to bring together housing, gardens, food growing, shared meals, animal rescue, animal connection, creative workshops, practical skill-sharing, childcare support, elder inclusion, community learning, private space, and social connection.

Because people do not heal in only one way.

Healing in Different Ways

For some, healing begins with a quiet room and a locked door.

For some, it begins with knowing their children are safe, loved, fed, and included.

For some, it begins in a garden, beside an animal, in a workshop, around a shared table, or through learning a skill they never thought they could try.

For some, healing begins when they are finally given enough space to remember they are allowed to dream.

The goal of Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing is not to force people into one version of recovery.

The goal is to create safe village spaces where people can rest, breathe, learn, contribute, withdraw, connect, grieve, create, try again, and rebuild in their own time.

The guiding belief is:

You can be left in peace.

And you will not be left alone.

What the Village May Include

The long-term vision includes affordable village housing, community gardens, food-growing systems, shared kitchens, food security programs, animal rescue, foster care, adoption pathways, animal-care education, creative wellbeing workshops, practical skill-sharing, mosaics, woodworking, gardening, cooking, preserving, repairs, hospitality, maker spaces, childcare support, family support, elder inclusion, intergenerational connection, community learning, life skills, social enterprise pathways, volunteering, employment, micro-enterprise, passion-based business support, private spaces for rest, shared spaces for connection, eco-conscious land care, water systems, energy systems, and long-term stewardship.

No single part of the model is more important than the others.

The housing, food, animals, gardens, childcare, elders, learning, creative work, privacy, and community connection all belong together as part of the same healing ecosystem.

Food Living

Food is not only about eating.

It is about dignity, stability, care, routine, health, skill, and connection.

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing aims to support food living through gardens, orchards, shared kitchens, preserving, cooking, composting, soil care, community meals, and practical education.

The vision is for people to reconnect with the experience of growing, preparing, sharing, and respecting food.

Food should become part of safety.

Part of learning.

Part of community.

Part of healing.

Children, Families, and Reprieve

Families should not have to do everything alone.

The village model may include childcare support, family support, play spaces, gardens, animal-care education, creative programs, practical life skills, and community learning opportunities where lawful, safe, appropriately supervised, and properly governed.

For a parent, healing may begin with a moment of reprieve — knowing their children are safe, loved, fed, watched over, and included in community.

Children deserve safety.

Parents deserve support.

Families deserve more than survival.

Elders and Intergenerational Community

Older people should not be pushed aside, forgotten, or treated as a burden.

Elders can be valued as community members, mentors, gardeners, storytellers, makers, carers, teachers, and holders of lived wisdom.

Where appropriate and safe, the village should create ways for elderly people to be included, supported, respected, and connected.

For an older person, healing may begin with being needed, valued, remembered, and connected again.

A village should hold every generation.

Animal Rescue and Animal Connection

Animal rescue is part of the wider vision.

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing may support animals in need through safe care, foster pathways, adoption support, animal-care education, and ethical rescue systems.

The animal side of the village is not about using animals as decoration.

It is about caring for animals properly, while also recognising the deep connection that can form between people and animals when both have known fear, instability, or abandonment.

Animals need safety too.

People need connection too.

A village can hold both.

Creative Wellbeing and Practical Skills

Creativity is not an extra.

Practical skills are not an afterthought.

They are part of rebuilding confidence, routine, identity, and possibility.

The village may include mosaic workshops, woodworking, gardening, cooking, preserving, repairs, animal care, hospitality, produce preparation, market skills, and other practical learning spaces.

These spaces are not designed to force productivity.

They are designed to help people remember they are capable.

Skill-Sharing and Social Enterprise

A core part of the vision is that on-site businesses and social enterprises would not exist only to earn income.

They would also teach.

Workshops, gardens, kitchens, animal-care spaces, creative studios, woodworking areas, hospitality spaces, produce systems, and maker spaces could all become places where people learn real practical skills.

The aim is to help people rebuild confidence, routine, dignity, choice, and possibility.

Some people may move toward employment.

Some may begin with gentle volunteering.

Some may develop a micro-enterprise.

Some may discover their own passion-based business idea.

Some may simply need time, safety, belonging, and the chance to feel useful again.

The goal is not to force productivity.

The goal is to create pathways.

Privacy and Community

The village should not trap people in constant togetherness.

It should offer both privacy and connection.

Residents should be able to have quiet, personal space, rest, independence, and distance when they need it.

They should also be able to access shared meals, check-ins, gardens, workshops, animal connection, learning, childcare support, practical help, and friendship when they want it.

No one should feel trapped in community.

No one should feel forgotten in isolation.

The village should hold both truths:

You can be left in peace.

And you will not be left alone.

Land Held for Purpose

The long-term goal is for land and property acquired by the charity to be held for public benefit and protected village use.

Where possible, Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing will aim for debt-aware or debt-free property acquisition, so the charity is not crushed by unnecessary financial pressure or forced into investor-driven rent extraction.

Land should be cared for, not exploited.

Housing should create stability, not fear.

Surplus funds should be reinvested into the mission: maintenance, repairs, accessibility, gardens, food systems, animal-care spaces, resident wellbeing, childcare and family support infrastructure, elder inclusion, environmental upgrades, community learning, and future village development.

Separate From the Business

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing is intended to become a separate public-benefit charity with its own governance, bank account, records, decision-making, legal purpose, and charitable mission.

It is separate from Shimmer & Whimsy House businesses, including Merrin’s Art, The Mosaic Maker’s Studio, Buzzword Creative, future hospitality, workshops, products, gardens, produce, woodworking, and other creative enterprises.

The businesses may support the charity through donations, fundraising, awareness, sponsorships, services, partnerships, or properly documented arrangements where lawful, fair, transparent, and in the charity’s best interests.

The businesses earn.

The charity serves.

The two may support each other, but they must not become blurred.

The Heart of the Project

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing is about creating a future where people are not left to survive alone.

Where children are safe.

Where elders are valued.

Where food is grown and shared.

Where animals are protected.

Where skills are taught.

Where art, gardens, animals, food, learning, and practical work become part of rebuilding lives.

Where people who have felt unsafe, isolated, overwhelmed, priced out, unsupported, or left behind can find a place that says:

You are allowed to belong here.

This project is still in its early development stage.

The vision, structure, governance, partnerships, registration, policies, land pathways, fundraising, and future programs will need to be built carefully, legally, ethically, and sustainably.

But the heart is clear.

Shimmer & Whimsy Eco Housing exists to bring back the village for people who need it most.

I’m beginning to gently build the next layer of the Shimmer & Whimsy House dream 🏡✨

The long-term vision is a creative, trauma-informed village that may one day include safe housing, gardens, workshops, animals, food, practical skills, art, community, and pathways for people to rebuild with support and dignity.

I’m not forming a formal board yet, but I’d love to start connecting with kind, steady, practical people who may be interested in a future Founding Advisory Circle.

Helpful experience could include governance, finance, legal/compliance, housing, trauma-informed support, child safety, animal welfare, grants, gardens, food, fundraising or social enterprise.

The first step would just be a private chat to see if the fit feels right.

If this sounds like you, or you know someone who may be a good fit, please message me 💛
